This unusual subject was one LeRoy often painted; the Harlequin, and here he coupled it with another favorite, “the Nude”. It has been said that the Harlequin wore the outfit he made famous because of his poor upbringing. The Harlequin’s family members helped make his costume for the carnival in Bergamo, Italy. It was made of many bright pieces. He is said to have an ability to attract beautiful women.
